Blood Bike Controller

North West Blood Bikes-Lancs & Lakes

We provide the NHS a free out of hours service for the movement of Blood; platelets; notes; samples; baby milk; medication and even small pieces of equipment. Potential Controllers will require either a PC or lap top. (Tablets are too small to show the dispatches pages.)A steady and reliable internet connection. A mobile phone and if possible a landline to receive incoming calls only from the hospitals; although two mobiles would be fine. We use a Virtual Switchboard to route calls from the hospitals to the Controller on Duty; hence Controllers work from the comfort of their own home not from our HQ or a call centre. Controllers work as dispatchers taking requests from the hospitals over several hospital trust from Westmorland; Fylde; Southport; Blackburn and Preston and associated hospitals. We dispatch riders for each job and monitor their progress. Full training is provided at our HQ and full support is given until the Volunteer is confident . Depending on the shift; call rates are between 20 and 40 entries per shift; some of which are prearranged. The Controllers choose their own shifts on the rota; which includes Bank Holidays. Monday to Thursday 18:00 to 02:00 8hrs; Friday 18:00 to 01:00 7hrs; Saturday 01:00 t0 07:00 6hrs (Graveyard shift !) followed by 07:00 to 13:00 13:00 to 19:00 19:00 to 01:00 All 6hrs.
