Volunteer Ranger Service - Conservation Volunteer

The Ranger Service are responsible for 16 sites across West Lancs and are responsible for all aspects of their management. The Volunteer Ranger Service get involved in all areas of work including practical tasks, event management and visitor services.

A conservation Volunteer could expect to get involved in the following tasks:

• Vegetation Management
• Infrastructure creation and repair (Steps, bridges, signage etc.)
• Woodland Management
• Habitat creation (Tree planting, wetland creation etc.)
• Litter picking, cleansing work, bin emptying
• Hedge Laying, Coppicing and other traditional forms of countryside management
• General site maintenance - Drainage work, path repairs etc. 

Conservation Volunteer sessions occur on Thursday Mornings and usually begin at Beacon Country Park, although work can be undertaken on any of the 16 sites across the borough. 

What skills do I need?

Commitment to conservation and improving the local environment

A willingness to learn and 'get stuck in' is essential

Practical skills and ability to work unsupervised

Good level of fitness essential

Ability to work within a team
