Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
The volunteer will be located at the front desk of the hospital (Ormskirk) and will offer directions and assistance to visitors coming into the Trust. It is important to understand that you will usually be the first person most members of the general public will meet when entering the hospital and it is that first impression and the ability to promote our Trust as a friendly; caring hospital that is key to being a successful Meet & Greet volunteer.
This service is offered Monday to Friday. AM & PM (PM shift commences at 12.30)
What does the role involve?
Offering advice and direction
Building up a rapport with patients and visitors
Locating wheel chairs if required
Checking and maintaining stock levels of PPE and hand gels at hospital entrances
Taking receipt of patient property for delivery to in-patient wards
KNOWLEDGE; TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE ROLE:

You are confident to talk to Patients and visitors
Ability to introduce yourself and be a ìfriendly faceî with a sympathetic manner
A good sense of discretion and willingness to help
You enjoy chatting with people and putting them at ease
You have excellent listening skills
You are empathetic and non-judgemental
Can provide one morning or afternoon per week
