Opiate Recovery Support Volunteer

Purpose of role:

At Change Grow Live you will be working with people to help them change the direction of their life, grow as an individual, and live life to its full potential. As an Opiate Recovery support volunteer, you will be working in close collaboration with Recovery Coordinators, assisting them in their caseload management, supporting the service user through all aspects of their treatment journey. This can include completing triages, risk management plans and undertaking one to one work, and outreach visits.

Key Activities:

• Support the Opiate recovery coordinator to carry out initial triage assessments, completing TOPS, risk assessments, risk management plans and to contribute to the development of individual community recovery plans.

• Provide 1:1 key work session including harm reduction advice and recovery planning

• Support those who use our services to achieve their care plan goals

• Support and empower service users to engage in recovery activities both within Change Grow Live and the wider community

• Work towards holding a small caseload of low-risk service users, coordinating their treatment options

• Document sessions and notes on case management systems

• Supporting group sessions (where applicable)

• Accompanying recovery worker on outreach visits

General terms of reference:

In carrying out the above duties the post holder will:

• To help Change Grow Live fulfil its role in offering the best service to our clients.

• To perform your volunteering role to the best of your ability.

• To follow the Change Grow Live’s procedures and standards, including health and safety and equal opportunities, in relation to our staff, volunteers and clients.

• To maintain the confidential information of Change Grow Live and of our clients; adhering to Change Grow Live’s policies and procedures

• To meet the time commitments and standards which have been mutually agreed and to give reasonable notice so other arrangements can be made when this is not possible.


What skills do I need?

Education Knowledge and Experience:

• Understanding of the issues faced by our client group

• IT literacy

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent time management skills, and an ability to work on own initiative prioritising accordingly.

• Ability to liaise and work in partnership with a wide range of professionals and agencies.

• Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality

This post is subject to a DBS at an Adult enhanced level.
