School Governor

Governors for Schools

Do you want to be inspired by the impact of education? Schools across West Lancashire are looking for skilled volunteers to become school governors. Whether your background is in business management, finance, HR, law, healthcare or any other profession, you could make a huge difference to the welfare of local children.

The role of a school's governing body is similar to a non-executive board of directors of a company. Governors help the head teacher make important decisions regarding the recruitment of senior members of staff, budget allocation, curriculum and premises. In addition, they hold the school to account for its actions and support its development by asking challenging questions and ensuring progress is being made.

Becoming a school governor is a fantastic opportunity to learn and apply transferable skill, gain experience in areas such as project management, recruitment and budget control whilst doing something great for the community at the same time.

Whether you want to help your community; a say in your child's future; or simply have an interest in education, being a school governer brings positive change to thousands of children's lives.
