Barnardo's 'Include Me 2' Play Leisure Services
To assist play staff in supporting our young people primarily on a 1:1 basis, during weekly daytime, afterschool, evenings, weekends and school holidays activities.
Key Activities/Requirements:-
To attend and participate in training sessions necessary to the role and development of a volunteer play assistant
Comply with health and safety requirements
To have the commitment to support the children and young people, giving them choices to access various activities
To interact with the children/young people to increase their independence with the supervision of play staff
To encourage children/young people to engage in activities where necessary
To support and befriend the children and young people during play activities
Times and Venues:- (updated 17.1.23)
West Lancs Community High School-Thursdays 3.30-6.30pm - Term Time.
Thursday day time - School holidays.
Greenhill Community Hub-Alternate Saturdays 9.30-4.15pm.
To be reliable, enthusiastic, flexible, accepting and non-judgmental.
Inform staff members of absences via telephone or email.
Good time keeping skills
Ability to communicate with children, young people, families and other work colleagues
Have commitment to work within Barnados Basis and Values Policy
Respect confidentiality
Volunteers must show good practice at all times and treat all people as individuals and with respect
All Volunteers are required to complete:-
A registration form requiring 2 references
Provide documents to carry out a CRB police clearance check
2 1/2 hour training modules (prior to volunteering)
Approval training
Autism awareness training
Attend supervision and meetings arranged
