Volunteer Ranger

Lancashire Heritage (2018) CIC

Becconsall Living Museum & Heritage Park is looking for friendly, practical volunteers to help look after the site and support visitors as a Volunteer Ranger. This flexible role is ideal for anyone who enjoys being outdoors, meeting people and helping to keep a heritage site safe, welcoming and well cared for.

Becconsall is a not-for-profit living museum and heritage park on a 20-acre Biological Heritage Site in Hesketh Bank, between Southport and Preston. We celebrate Lancashire’s industrial, social and craft heritage, while creating a positive experience for visitors, volunteers and the wider community.

This role may include:

Helping to signpost visitors to routes, facilities, events and points of interest around the site.

Walking the site to help keep an eye on paths, visitor areas and open spaces.

Reporting any issues such as damaged signs, litter, hazards or maintenance needs.

Supporting basic site care and helping to keep areas tidy and presentable.

Assisting with wildlife, habitat or conservation tasks where needed.

Supporting the team with general day-to-day site awareness and visitor care.

What skills do I need?

You don’t need previous ranger experience, but it would help if you:

Enjoy being outdoors in all weathers.

Are friendly, approachable and confident talking to visitors.

Can work independently and use your initiative.

Are observant and able to notice issues around the site.

Are happy to follow simple procedures and report concerns.

Can manage light physical tasks such as walking the site and carrying small items.
