Volunteer Receptionists/Front of House Team

Ecumenical Centre

This is an opportunity to be part of a new and friendly team of volunteers; being based in the new purpose-built reception; You will be the first point of contact for all people using the Ecumenical Centre facilities. Role will involve:

* Greeting visitors and ensuring that they can access the building safely.

* Signposting visitors to relevant organisations or individuals within the centre.

* Answering queries from visitors; whenever relevant.

* Taking room bookings via the telephone or face to face.  

Each day is different and there is always something new to do.  

You will work alongside other team members and there will be lots of opportunity to make friends and enjoy meeting new people.  

You will be required to work 2 half days per week minimum: Thursday mornings 9am to 1pm, and one afternoon each week, 12 noon till 4pm by arrangement.

Each Thursday is team meeting and training.  There will be regular certificated training to ensure that you are fully equipped for your role, and also, if you wish to move on to paid employment, you will have the transferrable skills and references to enable you to stand out at interview.  Regular team meetings are a chance for volunteers to discuss how reception can work best and how it can be improved, we discuss rotas and cover needed; we plan special events and how we discuss and sort any problems as they arise.  

When you start on reception you will have the support of more experienced staff to show you the ropes

Uniform provided (Polo shirt and Fleece)

Travel Expenses are paid

What skills do I need?

To have a pleasant and friendly manner.

*To be able to communicate clearly.

* To have an awareness of Health and Safety and Safeguarding procedures (training will be provided)

*To have good organisational skills.

* To be able to work as part of a team.

*To be self-motivated. Hours: Variable to be negotiated (it is expected that a minimum shift would be approximately half day per week).

Volunteers are required to attend on Thursday mornings for training and team meetings, and also for one or two regular afternoons per week by arrangement.
