Role Overview
We are seeking a calm, supportive, and enthusiastic Volunteer Yoga and/or Meditation Assistant to support the leading of and also lead accessible sessions (when comfortable in role or when required too- following prior agreement) for individuals or groups within our community. This role is ideal for someone passionate about wellbeing, mindfulness, and helping others improve their physical and mental health through yoga and meditation practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with planning and delivering inclusive yoga and/or meditation sessions suitable for a range of abilities and experience levels
• Create a welcoming, safe, and non-judgemental environment for participants
• Guide participants through breathing exercises, mindfulness practices, and relaxation techniques
• Adapt sessions to meet the needs of individuals, including beginners or those with physical limitations
• Encourage participation and foster a positive sense of wellbeing and community
• Maintain awareness of participant safety and wellbeing during sessions
• Liaise with organisers or coordinators regarding scheduling and participant feedback
Person or Role Specification
• Experience in participating in or leading yoga, meditation, or mindfulness practices (formal qualification desirable but not essential depending on setting)
• Confident leading group sessions in a calm and supportive manner
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, empathetic, and inclusive approach
• Understanding of health, safety, and accessibility considerations in group exercise
• Reliable and committed to agreed session times
This is a voluntary role. Any required training or safeguarding checks (eg. DBS if applicable) will be discussed prior to commencement.
